The Bangalore Life Science Cluster campus has received funding support from TTK-Prestige Limited towards "Science without Boundaries" to strengthen global engagements for research and training. The signing of an agreement to establish this engagement took place at a launch event at the Cluster campus on 1 September 2017.
The fund will also be used to encourage mobility of researchers at various levels of their career, including graduate students and Postdoctoral researchers. Travel awards via the donation from TTK Prestige will considerably expand the scope of training opportunities available to Cluster researchers.
Mr T T Jagannathan, Chairman TTK Prestige Limited said “It is important that we support Science in India. The only hope of improving the lives of millions of people in India is through Science. It is the duty of everybody to support the scientific community. We, at TTK Prestige Limited, are happy to do our bit towards this cause.
Support from TTK Prestige for Science without Boundaries is welcomed by the Director, NCBS and inStem, Prof Satyajit Mayor. " This extraordinarily generous donation from TTK Prestige, will serve to transform our ability to interact with the ever widening world of science that we inhabit. Mr. T T Jagannathan has created a fine example by directing CSR initiatives towards the Campus for higher education. It is in these areas that flexibility of functioning has become extremely curtailed in the recent years. This vital and timely support will enable us to regain our capacity for competitive research, and attract the best talent near and far to engage with our campus.
This support from TTK Prestige was made in the context of a Thematic learning session on Science and Research, organized at the Bangalore Life Science Cluster campus by the India Philanthropy Initiative, in conjunction with noted philanthropists Dr Kiran Mazumdar Shaw and Mr Kris Gopalakrishnan. The workshop was a forum for philanthropists to engage with discussions relating to private support for research and innovation. We laud the efforts of the India Philanthropy Initiative in enabling the engagement of philanthropists with the ecosystem of scientific research and development.", said Prof Mayor.
