Regulatory Compliance Office - Ketan Thorat
Ketan obtained his Masters (M.Sc. Biotechnology) from the Indian Institute for Technology (IIT) Bombay and PhD in Biological Sciences from the Institute for Stem Cell Science and Regenerative Medicine (inStem), Bangalore working with Dr. Praveen Kumar Vemula. During Ph.D., he developed platform technologies to alleviate pesticide-induced neurotoxicity in farmers. His Ph.D. work was awarded the Gandhian Young Technological Innovation Award (GYTI)-2019 conferred by the Hon'ble Vice President of India. He has served as Scientist ‘C’ at the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India between June 2019 to March 2022. During his tenure at DBT, he was the nodal officer for International Cooperation where he managed partnerships with various countries in Asia, Europe, North America, and South America.
He was trained as a Climate Reality Leader by Nobel Laureate Al Gore at Brisbane in 2019 under the Climate Reality Project. He has been a Global Shaper at the Bangalore and New Delhi hubs leading activities related to Sustainable Living.
Ketan joined inStem as Fellow 'E'/ Scientist D- Regulatory Compliance Officer in April 2022.
