Most people don’t know it but sitting inside your head is a major control freak – your brain. Your brain dictates every one of your actions with millisecond precision.  While you are ‘aware’ only of your conscious self, a large part of your brain is devoted to managing and controlling sensations, movements, and bodily functions in a way that you are not even conscious of. The best part is, that the brain learns from past mistakes and gets better with practice. Conversely, drug abuse and disease can make the brain become a poor controller over time. My talk will explore these ideas and also suggest practical applications of brain research, such as brain machine interfaces.
