New Directions of Blood Cell Biology 2024:

The 4th Biennial symposium on Drosophila immunity, hematopoiesis and immune cell biology, is being held from September 22 to 26, 2024 at inStem, Bangalore. This meeting first took place at the MBL Woods Hole (US) in October 2016 (organizers: Dr. Giangrande, IGBMC-U Strasbourg, France; Dr. Wood, U Bristol, UK; Dr. Brückner, U California San Francisco, USA), second took place in IST, Vienna and the third took place in IGBMC, Strasbourg, France.

This year's symposium, at inStem, will be the first in Asia. In this meeting we plan to bring together the heads of the many disparate groups working on immune cells in the fly to share unpublished data, discuss future directions, initiate collaborations, and establish bonds of trust among the PIs to strengthen the community and spur progress in the field. More importantly, for the first time, we are also organizing a much larger conference that will include post-docs and graduate students and see participation across Indian laboratories. The plan of the meeting will include open sessions with key note speakers from both International and National laboratories. We are aiming for sessions that will be kept open to attendance by all campus researchers and across campuses in Bangalore like IISC and JNCASR.

The meeting will include poster sessions and flash talks by students and post docs from the campus. This is will be a unique and fantastic opportunity for our students and campus researchers to engage with the leaders in the field of hematopoiesis and immunity. This is an exceptional chance to expand our breadth of connections with the larger international scientific community and establish connection across diverse Scientific scenarios.

The symposium will occur over the course of five days (September 22-26, 2024). We will begin on the morning of 23rd, September and end with lunch on the 26th. 22nd evening we will have an opening reception for all registered participants with the visiting speakers at inStem. Registrations are open and researchers are strongly encouraged to join in for the meeting.
