inStem celebrates yet another Foundation Day.
The Foundation Day started with a welcome address by Director Prof Maneesha Inamdar reminding us of the value stem cell research brings and the efforts underway at inStem, heartily welcoming the recentcabinet approval of the BioE3 Policy. The Foundation Day Lecture was delivered by our guest speaker Prof Saumitra Das of IISc Bangalore on RNA-binding proteins and RNA-viruses: A journey together. Elaborating how the viruses hijack the host cell, he shared his interesting discoveries, which the audience heard with rapt attention, followed by interactions. Postdocs of inStem presented their work to guest Prof Saumitra Das and all attending scientists and students from the campus. The discussions were insightful! Scientific talks ignited lots of engagement & insightful discussions during the Q&A sessions, benefiting the presenters & audience alike! Q&A also ensued between Prof Saumitra Das, Postdoc presenters, students and scientists. The afternoon session witnessed posters of all research themes of inStem adorning the atrium as the forenoon zeal spilled over into more free-flowing scientific discussions. Students of all stages participated wholeheartedly.
Foundation Day ended with a fun-filled Art-Jam themed on the BioE3 Policy! Whether quick or reluctant to start, eventually, everyone got their hands in some colour, kids too! Brilliant, refreshing representations of Biotech for environment, Entrepreneurship, and Employment were created.
We hope to keep pushing the boundaries of stem cell research and contribute to the growth in biotechnology.
