Course Description:
The aim of this course is to broaden the understanding of attendees about general concerns in research and publication ethics. The topics which will be covered in the course are philosophy of science including research ethics and integrity, publications ethics which includes plagiarism, authorship, peer review, trends in modern-day scientific publication. The course will also have detailed sessions on research data management. During the course, the attendees will understand responsible conduct of research through class lectures, discussion forums and assignments.

The course aims to teach new students how to read, review, and synthesize primary literature in biology. Students will read multiple papers each week. Assignments are most important and will help students build towards writing a term paper. We will use Moodle for the course.

A literature review on a topic of interest to the student.
