This consensus statement looks into genetic screening of cardiomyopathies from a clinician’s perspective and is divided into two parts. The initial part is a primer that includes basic introduction to the approach, terminologies and techniques relevant to genotyping of cardiomyopathies. The second part deals with patient management issues including those of individual cardiomyopathies as well as genetic counseling and approach to a collaborative genetic clinic.
