The BRIC-Institute for Stem Cell Science and Regenerative Medicine (BRIC-inStem) successfully hosted the Curtain Raiser Programme for the India International Science Festival 2025 (IISF) on 19 November 2025, bringing together scientists, school & college students and science enthusiasts for exciting talks and discussions. The event featured a series of insightful lectures by BRIC-inStem researchers, showcasing ongoing work in stem cell science, space biology, translational science and MedTech, and cutting-edge research. The event was also attended by groups of students from local schools. Speakers highlighted how BRIC-inStem’s research aligns with this year’s IISF themes emphasizing “Vigyan Se Samruddhi – For Aatmanirbhar Bharat”.
The event began with an address by Prof. Minhaj Sirajuddin, Dean, who welcomed the attendees and underscored the role of events like IISF in strengthening India’s research ecosystem. He spoke to the students about pursuing research and provided an overview of BRIC-inStem and its mandate. Attendees were also briefed in detail about the upcoming IISF 2025 in Panchkula, Haryana its themes and focus areas such as innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the societal impact of scientific progress. A special session was held to give details on how to register for IISF 2025 and particularly how students can engage and participate.
This was followed by lectures from BRIC-inStem scientists and PhD researchers. The lectures drew enthusiastic participation, fostering conversations around cutting-edge scientific questions and BRIC-inStem’s research. The talks gave insights into the exciting possibilities in Indian scientific research stretching from space biology to science-for-society innovations. The students were also shown live demonstrations and visited the labs on campus. The programme also set the stage for BRIC-inStem’s upcoming presence at IISF 2025, where the institute will contribute through exhibitions, demonstrations, and outreach activities.
