The Institute of Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine (inStem), is a premier research centre carrying out frontier research in the field stem cell biology. inStem has recently initiated a collaborative program of research with the National Centre for Biological Sciences and National Institute for Mental Health and Neurosciences. The program aims to understand the cellular and molecular basis of mental illness with a long-term goal to develop new therapies. The program involves generation and analysis of cellular models using patient derived human induced pluripotent stem cells (HiPSCs) and its differentiated derivatives. We are looking for individuals with cell biology experience to evaluate the potential of HiPSC in developing cellular models for neuropsychiatric illness.

Research associate positions are available for candidates with cell and molecular biology expertise to work in this program. The appointments will be a fixed term position initially for a period of one (1) year that may be extended up to a maximum of three years depending on the performance of the candidate. The position comes with a consolidated pay based on their qualification and experience.

Qualification: Ph.D in a relevant area (mammalian cell culture, Cell signalling, Biochemistry, Molecular biology) from a recognized Institute.

Experience: Two (2) to Three (3) years of experience of Post Doctoral Research experience and publications. Candidates should be able to use cellular differentiation and gene editing technologies to develop neural cell models for mental illness and evaluate their functionality.

Desirable: Experienced in stem cell technique and knowledge of gene engineering technologies, such as TALEN and/or CRISPR/Cas9 systems.

Consolidated Salary: As per institute norms.

The position is available immediately.
