"My project is related to a very prominent sarcomeric gene mutation (MYBPC3), whose prevalence is approx. 4% of the Indian population, resulting in cardiomyopathy and heart failure. I am studying the role of dietary metabolism in MYBPC3-associated genetically engineered transgenic mice and patient-derived Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs).
Will diet aggravate the condition? If yes, then how is the metabolism affected, what role do mitochondria play here, and how can we rescue this phenotype are some questions I will be answering using proteomics (mass spectrometry), transcriptomics (RNA sequencing), and metabolomics (Sea horse XF). This study will help patients to reduce the additional heart burden by controlling their diet."
