Do heart get cancer? If so, how?

"My study focuses on cardiac cancers, which are tough to understand and poorly studied. We found genetic clues for cardiac myxomas (tumors) that keep coming back causing enormous distress to the patient. Using cutting-edge tools—like next-generation sequencing, patient-derived 2D/3D heart cells, and genetically modified rat models—we aim to trace how this gene drives tumor growth. Why does it matter? Because the tumor's recurrence leads to complications and early death in patients. Our research aims to identify orchestrated signaling cascades that lead to these incidences. This will help in identifying personalized druggable signaling targets."
