DESCRIPTION: We seek to recruit a talented, independent and a motivated Junior Research Fellows on a joint project between Dr. Neha Vyas from St. John’s Research Institute; Bangalore and Dr. Tina Mukherjee from inStem, Bangalore entitled “Genetic screen to identify modifiers of myeloid progenitor cell development and maintenance using Drosophila larval lymph gland as the model system”. The screen is designed to identify molecular players using the Drosophila larval hematopoietic organ lymph gland as the screening platform. The candidates identified from the screen will be correlated to chronic myeoloid leukemia (CML) patient derived bone-marrow aspirates. This strategy will reveal conserved players involved in CML progression and drug resistance, which will be further tested in a relevant CML cell line.

QUALIFUCATION: Candidate must have Masters degree in any area of Life Sciences and a fellowship from CSIR/UGC/DBT/ICMR/or other equivalent funding agencies to support him/herself. A basic understanding of genetics, molecular and developmental biology will be essential. Laboratory training in Drosophila work or candidates with strong research experience will be preferred. The position is also open to registering for a Ph.D following cadidate’s work interest and exceptional performance.

HOW TO APPLY: Interested candidates may send in the following documents by email to neha.v@sjri.res.in and tinam@instem.res.in
